Are There Risks with Hepatitis A?

Hepatitis A does not progress to a chronic disease, but recovery can be slow. Infections often occur in children, especially those under the age of 6, and are frequently asymptomatic. For adults, symptoms typically last around a month, and complete recovery takes about 6 months. Relapses can occur in 20% of patients, causing prolonged symptoms for up to 15 months.
