Cultural Practices Contributing to Hepatitis C Transmission
Some alternative medicine practices and traditional customs contribute to the transmission of Hepatitis C due to their lack of basic hygiene and sterilization measures, such as:
Circumcision procedures carried out by health barbers and midwives.
Using hair removal paste on multiple women during celebrations, festivals, or weddings.
Performing tattoos at festivals or for brides on henna night.
Cupping and acupuncture.
Using hairdresser and barber tools on multiple people.
